Fire Ants set for Home Opener on Jan 5th

on Jan 03, 2013

The Hartford Fire Ants have gone through some major changes this season. Not only with their roster, but also with their home rink. With the closing of Z Rink in Glastonbury, CT, the Ants were left without a home rink for this season until an 11th hour deal was made with Plainville Indoor Sports Arena in Plainville, CT.

After opening on the road for their first six games in which they went 2-4, the Ants (2-4) will play their next 8 games at home, with the home opener this Saturday January 5th against the Empire State Legends (2-2).

The Ants split a pair of games in New York against the Legends back on Dec 16, winning 7-3 and losing 4-2. Hartford is currently tied for 3rd place in the New England Division with the NY Terror.

The Fire Ants will also host the New York Terror, the New England Insanity, and the New Jersey Surge during the home stand.

There should be a good crowd on hand for the home opener as the Ants have been busy on Facebook and Twitter promoting the big event. Become a fan by searching for FireAnts fan on Facebook or FireAnts TwitterGuy. On Twitter you can find them @fire_ants .

If you plan to visit the Ants on their home opening, make sure you look for Scorch, their mascot.
